On 27 October 2024, Dr. Ghulam Ali, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Research Center for Asian Studies, presented a paper on the ‘US-Saudi Arabia Defense Pact and the China Factor’ at the annual conference organized by the Chinese Association of Political Science (CAPS), held at National Taiwan University. 

This paper, co-authored with Dr. Nian Peng, Director of the Hong Kong Research Center for Asian Studies, argues that the proposed Defense Pact between Washington and Riyadh, once finalized, will limit China’s influence in Saudi Arabia in several key areas, especially the defense sector.
