Assistant Professor Bhattarai teaches Small States and International Organizations to the post-graduate students at Tribhuvan University. He also teaches Strategic Studies and Political Science at Nepali Military Academy. He is the Assistant Editor of the Journal of Foreign Affairs, published by Institute of Foreign Affairs(IFA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Nepal. His areas of expertise include China Studies, South Asia, Small States, Critical Security. He has published in academically renowned international journals, including International Politics, Cambridge Journal of China Stidies, (Stosunki Międzynarodowe-International Relations), Millennial Asia, Geopolitics Quarterly, Pakistan Horizon, Vestnik RUDN, among others. He has presented his academic papers in international and regional conferences in Australia, China, India and Bhutan. He has also chaired different sessions of the international conferences in China and Bhutan. He often writes on for the mainstream dailies published from Kathmandu, South Korea and England including Republica, The Kathmandu Post, Global Asia, IR Info. His upcoming book " Nepal between China and India: Difficulty of being Neutral," is published by Palgrave Macmillan.
