Dr. Nazir Ahmad Mir is Nonresident Fellow at Hong Kong Research Center for Asian Studies (RCAS), Hong Kong. He is also researcher at Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi, India. With a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Peace Building, his thesis was on national identity formation and conflict management in India. His research areas are nationalism and international conflicts, collective identity formation, security and foreign policies of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, and international (critical) relations theory. Nazir has been following domestic politics and foreign policies of Pakistan, Afghanistan and India to identify causes of insecurity and possible cooperation. He has published reviewed articles in Strategic Analysis and Journal of Defence Studies. His critical book reviews have appeared in International Spectator, Journal of Civil Wars, India Quarterly, among other journals. He has contributed a book chapter in The Uncertain Future of Afghanistan: Terrorism, Reconstruction, and Great-power rivalry (Springer 2024) edited by Nian Peng and Khalid Rehman. His opinion pieces have appeared in Aljazeera, Frontline, South Asian Voices, Atlantic Council, The Diplomat, The Print, IDSA, among others. His article on territoriality and consolidation of the Afghan Taliban is under review with a reputed peer review journal.
