Dr. Passang Dorji is Non-resident Fellow at the Hong Kong Research Center for Asian Studies (RCAS), Hong Kong. He is also an independent scholar, journalist and consultant in Bhutan. He served as a member of Parliament, Bhutan (2018-2023); Chair of Foreign Relations and Human Rights Committee, National Assembly of Bhutan (NAB) (2021-2022); member of Economic and Finance Committee, NAB (2018-2021); President of the Journalists’ Association of Bhutan (2012-2014); Cofounder and Board Director of Bhutan Transparency Initiative, NGO advocating corruption-free Bhutan (2013-2016).
Dr. Passang Dorji got his Ph.D in Asian&International Studies, City University of Hong Kong (2015-2018); Master of Management (Business&Public), University of Canberra, Australia (2013-2014). His Ph.D thesis title is "The Sino-Indian competition over Bhutan and Nepal: Small state responses to great power politics" (2018). His recent publication is "Crafting Bhutan-China Ties: Small State Agency in Emergent Diplomatic Relations", which was accepted by Asian Perspective.
